1. Clearing the Area
First Remove Existing Grass, Weeds, Rocks, and Debris. This provides you with a flat surface to operate from.
2. Weed Membrane

Why it’s important:
It prevents weeds that will wreck how it looks.
3. Sub-Base Layer
The sub-base allows stability and drainage. Common materials include:
Crushed Stone (type 1 or type 3); Very strong and resistant to movement; Drainage.
Granite dust -- Compacts well and drains excellently.
How to apply:
Measure a depth of 3 to 4 inches and spread it over the whole area for an even surface.
4. Laying Sand
A coating of 1-2 inches thick sharp sand goes on the sub-base. This will create a level base for your fake grass.
Why it’s important:
The sand layer provides a smooth surface for your grass to grow and helps with water drainage.
5. Shock Pad (Optional)
Textured and for increased comfort (e.g. play areas) an optional shock pad pads In a nut shell, this foam layer helps to the cushion and in turn reduces your chances of injuries.
6. Laying the Grass
Lay your Artificial grass on the prepared base and unroll / align it so that any excess needs to be trimmed [] It is pretty snuggly in there with the grass on top.
7. Infill Material
In the end, infill with something like silica sand or rubber crumb. The primary functions of the infill is to keep the grass blades standing up, add weight and improve durability.
